Environmentalist and Educator, Dr. Wangari Maathai was the first African woman to be awarded a Nobel Prize for Peace.

 Dr. Wangari Maathai (1940 – 2011) was the first African woman to receive the Nobel Prize for Peace. 🏆 In her native country of Kenya 🇰🇪, she started the Green Belt Movement which focused on conserving the environment, planting trees, 🌲🌳🌴and empowering impoverished women. 🖤
