Dr. Guion Bluford, Jr. (1942)
was a pilot in the US Air Force who served during the Vietnam War. He earned a
doctorate degree in Aerospace Engineering from the Air Force Institute of
Technology in 1978. He later became the first African American to travel to
space in 1983. #blackhistoryguardians
