First Black Librarian, Edward Christopher Williams (1871 - 1929)

Edward Christopher Williams (1871 - 1929) was the first Black professionally trained librarian in the United States. He graduated from Western Reserve University, and in 1899, he earned a masters degree of library science from NYS Library School. He became Howard University's librarian in 1916. 📚 #blackhistoryguardians
