Born during the time of slavery, despite overt racism and misogyny, Rebecca Lee Crumpler (1831-1895) made history in 1864 by becoming the first Black woman medical doctor in the United States. Her best-selling work, "A Book of Medical Discourses", included information on maternal and pediatric care. #BlackHistoryGuardians
