“To control a people, you must first control what they think about themselves and how they regard their history and culture. And when your conqueror makes you ashamed of your culture and your history, he needs no prison walls and no chains to hold you.”—John Henrik Clarke (1915 -1998)

(Women's History Month) Remembering History-making Pilot, Bessie Coleman (1892 - 1926)
🛫Bessie Coleman (1892- 1926) wanted to become a pilot, but she was not allowed to attend flight school in the United States because of her race and gender. Coleman’s tenacious spirit motivated her to save money; learn French; and travel to France in order to obtain an aviator’s license. Later, she became the first African-American woman in the world to obtain a pilot’s license. She also became the first African-American person to get an international aviation license from the Fédération Aéronautique Internationale. #BlackHistoryGuardians #WomensHistoryMonth #NoWomenNoWorld 💛❤️🖤💚
